For a competition that broke records for attendances and gate receipts last year, you might find the build-up to this year’s National Leagues are oddly quiet.

And you wouldn’t be wrong. The sponsor has an obvious problem and a soft launch suits, although Allianz’s pre-league promotions these past couple of seasons also felt subdued.
