When Castlehaven met Nemo Rangers in the 1994 Cork football semi-final, Bandon was so packed to capacity that the ground was bursting at the seams. The bank by the pavilion was heaving. The far side of the ground was so thronged that supporters climbed up on trees to get a better vantage point.

The teams were getting ready to go out when they were told to return to their dressing room as the throw-in had to be delayed. Long before live TV or streaming services for county semi-finals, everybody with an interest in Cork football appeared to be in Bandon that afternoon.
