Enda McEvoy: Cork were Cork. It’s time they were again.

Cork have to win. Defeat would not be a disaster but it would be an undeniable setback.

CORK BE CORK: Cork teams used be able to live with the pressure. Come to that, there were excellent reasons why they had to. Cork were Cork. It’s time they were again. Pic: Daire Brennan/Sportsfile

By rights this piece should start with Tipp. They’ve been – inasmuch as it counts for anything at teatime today, given that it won’t at teatime tomorrow - the team of the National League to date, the more so given their starting point. Their efforts deserve suitable recognition while the going is good. But there’s been only one team on the public tongue of late, only one team even remotely challenging Limerick in the championship betting, only one team giving the impression they’re on a countdown to a nuclear reaction.

All of which means one thing in the here and now. Cork have to win this.
