This glittering era of Limerick hurling would obviously not have been possible without the array of talent at his disposal nor the coaching acumen of Paul Kinnerk. But would they be on the precipice of the five-in-a-row were it not for Kiely’s acute management?

Friday was not a pleasant day in the Fogarty household. Not for this columnist nor those who have to put up with him.

It was at the kitchen table that I learned Jurgen Klopp had handed in his notice. At least I was sitting but there was silence, the odd expletive and more silence. A plate of scrambled eggs and rashers went cold, a cup of coffee fumbled and spilt.
