Mind the gap: Why we need two-tier championship now

Anyone with the faintest sliver of attachment to the GAA would readily appreciate the two most significant results to have emerged from Sunday’s list of football fixtures.

They were of course Fermanagh’s win over Roscommon and Galway’s victory in the Athletic Grounds.

And a GAA highlights programme, which truly understood the game, would have reflected the importance of those matches by giving them due prominence on its schedule.
