EXPERT VIEW: Dan Shanahan, Waterford
Everyone has been talking about Davy Fitzgerald putting seven men in defence, and that’s hard to play against, obviously, but what happens if Cork go ahead? If Cork build a lead then Clare will probably have to go man for man and take their extra defender out, and that’ll create space for the Cork forwards. Jimmy Barry-Murphy has a couple of questions of his own to answer as well, though. I’d start Brian Murphy if I were him: if Murphy is fit and healthy then he’s too good a defender to let on the bench.
One advantage that Cork have is they’ve got a few experienced men who’ve been in an All-Ireland final; players who know how to deal with this week, which can be hugely demanding and stressful, particularly for your first All-Ireland.
