Hard to look beyond a Cork-Kerry semi-final
No point in pretending otherwise, last night’s All-Ireland quarter-final draw was exactly as the holders would have wanted.
There is no danger they will take Mayo lightly, but when the alternatives are Dublin or Donegal, then it’s an easy choice. The Connacht champions are a work in progress and while they look to have got the bit between their teeth after that early summer scare in London, Croke Park isn’t the type of pitch where you can keep it tight. They’ll struggle to keep pace with the movement and fluency of the Cork attack and if I’m honest, the draw may also be a blessing in disguise in terms of giving Daniel Goulding time to be ready for a semi-final.
