Tough Truth looks the part

UNIVERSAL TRUTH is the nap choice to land a fascinating little four-runner John Buckley Auctioneers’ Race at Killarney tonight.

Tough Truth looks the part

Dermot Weld’s charge is a tough, rugged customer, who has shown in the past that soft ground holds no fears for him.

Successful in three bumpers, his best performance in that category came in defeat at the Punchestown Festival in April when a creditable fourth behind Dunguib.

The selection then had his first outing on the flat at Leopardstown in early June, cruising to victory in what was, admittedly, a moderate heat.

If Red Rock Canyon lives up to his inflated rating of 103 then he will make short work of this opposition.

He ran a cracker when third to Famous Name in a Group 3 at the Curragh on Saturday, but has spent most of his life as a lead horse at Ballydoyle and would be no certainty to get 14 furlongs.

Drive Time impressed when scoring on his debut at Leopardstown and will make this interesting, along with the useful Elyaadi.

The Lixnaw Fabrications Handicap is another four-horse affair and the one to be on here is Aidan O’Brien’s Francisco Goya.

He’s taken time getting his act together, but took an ordinary maiden in smooth style at Naas last week.

Aidan’s son, Joseph, takes the ride and he is really good value for his 7lbs claim.

Tony Martin’s Aggie’s Lad gets the nod in the Malton Winners’ Enclosure Novice Chase. He was a bit disappointing when failing to concede Valerius 12lbs, the verdict nine lengths, at Perth, but remains a promising talent.
