Angry Fans

OUR football correspondent LIAM MACKEY is back in top form and full of energy. He casts his eye over your comments and gives his own critical analysis of the goings on throughout the world of football.

You may agree with him or then again you may not. This week you comment on: Chelsea, the money they spent, and the way they were knocked out of the Champions League; the ‘Conspiracy’ deepens or does it; the disgrace at the Bridge, both past and present; Drogba and the word he might use; evidence of some ‘false and ignorant’ remarks; and some unbelievable journalists; is Alan Shearer fed up of the job after five games in charge at NUFC.

The Letter of the Week goes to Mike O’Neill. Get in touch with your postal address and our magnificent prize will be winging its way to you before you know it.

I DON’T feel one bit sorry for Chelsea. All that money they spent and yet they go to the Nou Camp and play with the mindset of Stoke. Yes, they created the best chances but over the two legs Barcelona played by far the best football, and anyway Liam, now that the country has gone rugby mad and all the talk is of big hits and big collisions, isn't it good to know that there is still a sport where small men like Iniesta, Xavi and Messi can take on the likes of Essien and Drogba and win. All contact sports need to strike a balance between skilful play and physical play. Euro 2008 and the Champions League prove that football has got the balance about right.
