Angry Fans

OUR football correspondent LIAM MACKEY is back in top form, just like he’s never been away.

Angry Fans

He's bursting with energy, having hit the ground running last week and he continues to give his own verdicts of the season on the opinions of our Angry Fans. You may agree with him and then again maybe you will not.

Today your letters and emails contain comments about Joe Kinnear, rivalry between Celtic & Rangers, Ronaldo, Man U, Tottenham, Sheffield Utd v West Ham, Zola as manager, football clubs going bust, Keane and Wenger’ mutual admiration, football chants and Rooney in - Owen out .

The Letter of the Week prize goes to Gooner-in-exile, so get in touch with your postal address . . . and it will be in the post to you before you can say Arab billionaires.

LIAM, following Joe Kinnear’s famous rant in his Newcastle press conference could you tell us the worse thing you have been called while you have been pursuing your professional duties?

Kevin O’Keefe, Cork, by email

OUR SHOUT: I once interviewed Van Morrison and his considered response to my very first question was “Can I go to sleep?” Things went steadily downhill from there. And a well-known former Ireland international told me that something I’d written was “a load of shite“. Or, hang on, was that the Sports Editor? Anyway, it should be obvious that the very worst thing a professional hack can be called is early in the morning.

The rest of today’s Angry Fans column is in the Irish Examiner newspaper and will appear here tomorrow.
