For someone who espoused long-term visions, Marc Canham’s tenancy as the forefront of Irish football was always going to be short-lived.

“My job is to always be thinking 10 years ahead and look at the long term,” he said in his first media interactions after being hired as FAI director of football in June 2022, attempting to contextualise changing the women’s team manager.
