SO MUCH for all the talk in advance of the Six Nations being diluted into a straight shootout between France and England at the Stade de France on Saturday night. Instead, we’ve been treated to the most competitive and fascinating of campaigns since Italy joined the championship back in 2000.
In beating England at the Stadio Olimpico last weekend, Italy finally registered a win over all the competing nations since they joined 26 years ago. England had never lost to Italy across 32 encounters to date. As former tennis player Vitas Gerulaitis might say, nobody beats Italy 33 times in a row.
