In the space of a contrasting few hours of captivating rugby over the course of entirely differing performances on Saturday afternoon, we were treated to the best and worst of what modern day European Champions Cup action has become.
Leinster’s 10-try, 62-0 annihilation of Harlequins at Croke Park showcased the folly in enabling 16 of the original 24 teams setting out in the tournament advance to the knockout phase. Despite the best efforts of some to exit at the pool phase, some will still make the cut for Round of 16 action.
