When English referee Christophe Ridley blew the final whistle at the end of 83 pulsating minutes of action, the massive Welsh crowd at the Principality Stadium stood in unison to applaud their vanquished warriors in red.

Even in defeat, their 15th in a row, honour had been restored. It’s clearly been a tough few weeks for the Welsh rugby public on the back of their latest loss to Italy and the subsequent parting of the ways with a legendary coach in Warren Gatland.
