Kilkenny’s hammering from Galway seven days ago expectedly prompted a full inquest in the county, with the backlash loud and clear. That never happens with Kilkenny but I’d go further again in saying that some of the strange stuff we’ve seen to date in this league has extended far beyond just the Kilkenny border.
Nobody would, or could, have predicted the skewering Tipperary got from Limerick in Thurles. A week after getting embarrassed by Cork, you’d have nearly got whatever odds you wanted on Waterford turning over Limerick, which is exactly what happened.
