Achieve the skin of your dreams at Eden Medical Clinic
A new type of BBL trend is taking the world by storm; BroadBand Light.
We’re well into June now, which means 2024 is almost halfway through.
If this is the year you promised you’d tackle some serious goals; whether it was to have a ‘glow up’ of sorts, to prioritise self-care and personal wellbeing more, or simply to have a bit more ‘you time’, then the clock is ticking!
Luckily, achieving all of the above has never been easier thanks to Eden Medical Clinic.
One of Ireland’s leading aesthetic clinics, Eden Medical has been wowing patients with their results for almost a decade, working across 14 clinics nationwide.
Now, the expert team at Eden Medical are taking on their most ambitious project yet; converting significant numbers of both men and women across the country into bonafide BBL lovers — though not the kind you might think!
“BBL, or BroadBand Light, and Moxi Laser are our newest treatments at Eden Medical,” explains Dr Emma Sheehan, founder of the clinic. “These are cutting edge treatments that use light and laser technology to improve all types of skin conditions and skin aging. While each treatment can work very effectively on its own, both Broadband Light and Moxi can also be used together for anti-aging treatment of the skin and to treat sun damage, targetting things like pigmentation and freckles, any redness or broken capillaries.

“These treatments are also great for treating conditions such as rosacea and acne. They tighten the patient’s skin and are a massive stimulator of collagen, which is the holy grail for youthful skin! Essentially, the more collagen you have in your skin, the better your skin will age, which is what our BBL and Moxi treatments can ensure. They really are just fantastic.”
Now available in Eden’s Cork, Dublin, Limerick, Tralee and Belfast clinics, these treatments mark an exciting expansion of Eden Medical’s offering. While the clinic has been known up to now for their stellar work with injectable treatments (including lip filler and tear trough filler), this is their first foray into laser and light treatments.
“Bringing in light and laser was a natural next step for us at Eden Medical,” shares Lauren Reilly, lead Skin Specialist in their Cork clinic. “The BBL and Moxi treatments were something that I’ve known about for years from watching videos online, so I was over the moon when I heard they were finally making their way into Irish clinics too!
“The training that we've received for these treatments has been incredible. I've never known a brand to train their staff as fully and intensely as Eden Medical does. I've been to numerous master classes across Ireland to learn more about Moxi and BBL, and I've just recently come back from one in Barcelona, which was such an amazing opportunity. Learning different methods from specialists worldwide really gives us an all-round knowledge of how to help our patients. I truly believe that what we’re offering at Eden Medical through these treatments is industry leading; not just in Ireland, but in the world right now.”
All that training is certainly paying off when it comes to the results, as both Dr Sheehan and Lauren say feedback to the BroadBand Light and Moxi treatments has been overwhelmingly positive.
“Patients have been so happy with the results of their BBL and Moxi treatments; they’re truly blown away by the improvements they're seeing even after just one session,” shares Dr Sheehan. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see people so ecstatic with these changes in their skin. Many of our patients tell us that it's given them a sense of confidence they never had before, particularly those who are using BBL and Moxi to help treat acne. Many people with acne find it a daily struggle, it can be incredibly challenging for them, so for us to be able to provide improvements in their skin and see the happiness that's reflected thereafter is really special.”
For Lauren, the breakthroughs that rosacea sufferers in particular are having with BBL and Moxi have been particularly significant.
“For the last six years I've been working with many different treatments and brands and I always found it so frustrating trying to treat rosacea. I never felt that I could truly improve it, but that’s all changed with the BBL and Moxi. I've seen such dramatic results, which has been so lovely because rosacea is something that you can't really cover with makeup and it can completely discourage people. We can now reduce the appearance of rosacea by up to 80 or 90%, which is just amazing.”

As Dr Sheehan points out, you can also benefit plenty from a BBL or Moxi treatment even if you don’t have any pre-existing skin conditions. Everyday living, going out and about and being exposed to the sun, can all do more damage to our skin than many of us realise.
“Any bit of UV can harm our skin and cause our bodies to produce melanin, which essentially is that brown color or pigmentation that we'll see within sun damaged skin. There is a certain age group of patients that we would see often in the clinic who never had access to SPF when they were younger, or who grew up applying the likes of baby oil to their skin to promote tanning.
“Nowadays, we know how unhealthy tanning is, but sadly even if you have great skincare now and are applying your daily SPF, it only protects you in the present and doesn’t reverse the earlier damage. That’s still there, but we can now use the BroadBand Light and Moxi Laser to clear any existing damage so that it doesn't worsen or darken over time, which can be one of the main signs of aging.”
While there certainly is a demand from older patients for the anti-aging effects of the new treatments, they’re not alone! Lauren’s seeing a huge variety of patients coming in to try it out for themselves.
“We have a mix of everybody coming to us, from the age of 18 to 80! We’re lucky to have such a wide variety of clients, both men and women, who have seen incredible differences in their skin and have gone on to recommend us to others.
“We’re seeing results on all ages and all varieties of skin types, as BroadBand Light targets the deeper most layers of the skin. In doing so, it's targeting pigmentation, redness, flushing, rosacea, thread veins, acne, textural concerns like open pores and fine lines; absolutely everything! Touch wood, but so far I haven't had to send away a single patient for their skin concerns. No matter what issue they want to improve, I've always been able to do something for them, which is incredible.

“For any patient that we have in for any of our treatments at Eden Medical — be it Moxi or BBL or anything else — we bring them back in for a review appointment two weeks after their treatment session. That’s when we really get to see those great results and examine them a bit more. We check how happy the client is with their progress, and make sure we're all on the same page regarding their further treatments, or whether they even need further treatments! We’re actually finding that BBL and Moxi are such advanced, powerful treatments that patients are truly blown away by the results they're seeing even after just one session.”
The number of sessions you’ll need can vary greatly from person to person. The good news, however, is that you can find out which treatments, and exactly how many sessions of them you’re likely to require, in a totally FREE initial consultation with the Eden Medical experts.
“We discuss absolutely all options with our clients, and it’s really important to us that we take into account their individual budget,” Lauren reassures. “Any treatment is a significant investment in your skin, and not just financially. We’re also very conscious of people’s time.”
While the treatments themselves at Eden Medical can vary from 30 minutes to an hour long, there’s also downtime from certain procedures that patients should be aware of. Thankfully, Lauren explains, very minimal recovery is needed from either a BroadBand Light or Moxi treatment.
“If you were getting the BBL by itself, I would say you're going to have 24 to 48 hours of redness and potential swelling, depending on your healing process. After 24 hours you can go back to applying and wearing makeup as normal. We don't recommend any direct sunlight for two weeks post-treatment, so say if a client was going away to Spain, we would just reschedule their treatments around that.
“For our Moxi treatment, there is a little bit of added downtime but nothing major. I think when people hear “laser” they automatically picture a dramatic ablation to the skin, or something really harsh. That's absolutely not what Moxi is!
“Moxi is a non-ablative laser that requires very little recovery — we're talking five to seven days of minimal flaking to the skin while all the dead skin cells are coming up to the surface. What I always say to my clients is that you yourself might notice that your skin feels quite dry and quite rough, but anyone else just looking at you won't notice anything unusual in those days immediately after your session.”
It really does seem like there are no downsides to the new BBL and Moxi treatments. If you need some convincing yourself, however, there’s never been a better time to put them to the test!
For a limited period this summer, Eden Medical are offering an exclusive discount on their Moxi treatments, with two sessions reduced to just €750, which is great value, considering one treatment costs €525.
