ASTER Lawn in Kinsale, has a bit of chequered history, but it’s all coming good now. It hit the skids when the economy dipped and the property market crashed back in the noughties, but redemption arrived in more recent years. In 2022, a slew of Aster Lawn new builds hit the market, which is when the owners of the house featured here bought into the development at Abbey Fort.

No 4 Aster Lawn became their home just in time for Christmas (so says the Property Price Register), when the couple paid €320,000 for a house with a builder’s finish.

Although neither of the duo was from Kinsale – Cork city and Galway were their homeplaces – both were thrilled with their choice of location. So thrilled in fact that although they are selling up, they’re not going anywhere. Their next home will also be in the development, albeit bigger, with more bedrooms, to cater for a bigger family.

They home they are vacating is a tastefully presented, terraced three-bedroom property where open-plan living is the order of the day downstairs.

Kitchen, dining and living are spread around an L-shape, with the living area to the rear of the house.

French doors open to a prettily landscaped back garden and a deep window in the living area overlooks it too.

The only other downstairs room is the guest loo, and there are two more bathrooms overhead: an ensuite off the main bedroom as well as a family bathroom.

Other features of No 4 include a floored attic and two allocated parking spaces to the front of the house.

The selling agent is Scott O’Sullivan of Sherry FitzGerald and he says No 4 is good as new.

“Instead of a builder’s finish, the buyer will get an almost-new, fully fitted house,” Mr O’Sullivan says.

He adds that it’s a mighty location, within a stroll of picturesque Kinsale town and its busy marina, and just 25 minutes from Cork Airport.

VERDICT: Tasty turnkey home in the property hotspot of Kinsale.
