THE name Gorsefield sounds rural, but the setting of this iteration is pure suburban Cork city — it’s in Loreto Park, off the South Douglas Road.

A four-bed semi-d, it’s been a very well-kept home, but as it comes to market now, with a €540,000 AMV, it’s an executor sale, listed with auctioneer Brian Olden,of Cohalan Downing, who asserts “it’s a rock-solid home”.

He also says it’s welldesigned, with a slightly different internal layout to most or typical semis, with twin reception rooms left of the side-entered hall, each separate one from the other, while the further in one links from the front to a rear-set kitchen/diner.

Each of the reception rooms has a fireplace, and there’s also central
heating via gas, plus double glazing, yet it gets a typical-enough-for-its-age E1 BER.

Buyers might choose to update the décor, or to do more and to extend, and there’s already anadjacent garage, a long one, stretching into the back garden with a side door at the far end.

Apart from the location, a keen attraction for many will be the aspect, facing directly west to the back, and with well-tended gardens front and rear.

The location is close to the Cross Douglas Road and Ashdale.

The Price Register shows almost a dozen
previous sales since 2010 at Loreto Park, at prices for semis ranging up to €600,000. The most recent was of Trenton, making €540,000 in 2023. A large detached called Lauderdale, close to the Cross Douglas Road within the park, also sold in 2023 for a recorded €877,500.

VERDICT: A solid semi-detached house with a sunny disposition, in a great location, well tended to date and ready to serve once more.
