Building flood defences can be a tricky issue, especially on older builds where additional challenges arise, writes Brigid Browne

Hi Brigid, 

We bought a house two years ago and have since heard from neighbours there is a flood risk in the area, with a few previous instances of homes being hit and water lapping up very close to an even bigger number of houses. It’s infrequent, and only happens years apart, at least until now, but with climate change we know we have to prepare as best we can.
