That’s according to Olivia Hanafin, of Sherry FitzGerald O’Neill, who expects to see retirees and relocators show up for viewings — as well as overseas and Irish buyers in search of a holiday home.

Given how popular West Cork properties have been with foreign buyers in the past, it’s no surprise to learn that the 1930s-built farmhouse has been a German-owned holiday home for over 30 years. “The owners spent five or six months of the year there,” Ms Hanafin says — explaining that they put in double glazing and oil-fired central heating, and also built a separate guest studio in the gardens.

Well-minded by its owners, it’s full of traditional character. However, its E2 BER will need to be looked at.

Accommodation includes a timber-floored sitting room, which has a stone fireplace with a stove and a window with sea and mountain views.

There’s also a small kitchen with timber units, a bathroom, two bedrooms, and an upstairs room. Guiding at €345,000, the property is located 6km from Glengarriff and 23km from Bantry.

VERDICT: A scenic coastal bolthole.

THIS end-of-terrace cottage at 6 Parochial Avenue, in Baldoyle in Dublin 13, seems to have doubled in both size and value since it last sold in 2017.

Karen Mulvaney of KM Property says the current owners have almost rebuilt the 1920s-built house and added on a sizable high-ceiling modern extension at the rear.

Listing the three-bed property with a guide of €620,000, Ms Mulvaney says that in addition to its 86 sq metres of modernised accommodation, the property has a large back garden with a Shomra garden room.

The layout has been reorganised so that the property’s bathroom and three bedrooms (one en suite) are now located at the front. In the extension, there’s a small utility and a large open-plan kitchen/dining/living space which has a vaulted ceiling with roof lights and a fully glazed rear wall.

Outside there’s a tiled courtyard and a lawned garden with a Shomra.

“This has an open-plan kitchen/living space, a bedroom and a shower room and could be used as a home office,’’ says Ms Mulvaney.

Located close to shops in Baldoyle, Parochial Avenue is within a few minutes’ stroll from the seafront and a 15-minute walk from Sutton Dart Station.

The property sold for €305,000 in 2017.

VERDICT: Unexpectedly stylish and spacious with the facade of a cute old-world cottage.

The stone and brick facade on Saint Edmonds, at Crossabeg, in Wexford, is handsome enough to catch the attention of a buyer in search of a rustic home with charm and a bit of land.

It’s unlikely that such a buyer would be disappointed with the redbrick walled interior of the early 1900s-built property which was sympathetically renovated and significantly extended around ten years ago.

Quoting a guide of €525,000 for the four-bed property, Keane Auctioneers say it’s an attractive home on half an acre of gardens with classic features and fabulous stonework.

Entrance is through a tiled porch opening into a red brick-walled hallway. To the rear, there’s a very sizable kitchen/diner with country-style ochre yellow units, a large timber-topped centre island and a bay window. The extension also provides space for a utility, a guest WC and a walk-in pantry.

The house has two timber floored bedrooms in the original part of the house at the front and two large en suite ones as well as a bathroom in the extension.

Enclosed by an attractive stone wall at the front, the property has lawned gardens with a detached garage at the rear.

Located close to Castlebridge village, it’s 8km from Wexford town.

VERDICT: Rustically handsome enough to appeal to a Dublin buyer?

Viewers of 30 Tubbrid Park, Gortamullen in Kenmare should be very pleasantly surprised with the high standard of interior finish on the three-bed mid-terrace property.

On the market with a guide of €250,000, it’s just been given a stylish makeover by owners who fitted triple-glazed windows, put down new flooring, and installed a new living room cabinet.

“The kitchen has also been hand-painted and fitted with new appliances,” says auctioneer John Daly of Sherry FitzGerald Daly, noting that the BER on the early 2000s built property has been upgraded to a B3.

The property is part of a 33-house development which used to be called Kenmare Holiday Village but has recently been renamed Tubbrid Park.

Spacious for a mid-terrace house, it has 112 sq m of accommodation which includes a redecorated front living room which has new lime oak flooring and a grey cabinet incorporating a stylish contemporary electric fire.

Off the hallway, there’s a guest WC and upstairs there’s a bathroom and three bedrooms including one with an upgraded en suite shower room.

Located 1.6km from Kenmare, the property is expected to attract strong interest from holiday home buyers.

VERDICT: Viewers should appreciate the improved BER and the stylish upgrade.
