Lisselan sale may be less than half of asking price

It stomped onto a gloomy recessionary market with a fantastic €9 million asking price for an equally fantastic chateau of 10,000 square feet and a land belt of 315 acres, but it’s now reported that the landmark, Lisselan estate near Clonakilty in West Cork has been sold for a sum closer to €3.5m.

Lisselan sale may be less than half of asking price

Selling agents, Savills, were unavailable for comment on any sale or on any purchasers’ identity, although a northern buyer has been mooted. Property investor, Tommy O’Gorman, who made a number of canny acquisitions in the south, has ruled himself out as the buyer.

The potential purchaser is likely to be from the south, however, and may even be local, but Savills are denying a sale is completed, at this stage.
