An almost forgotten Cork sculptor and stonecutter

A piece by J F Davis with the Sacred Heart coat of Arms made €1,400 at O'Donovan's in Newcastle West.

Among the more significant items sold from the Redemptorist Esker Monastery near Athenry by O'Donovan's in Newcastle West last Saturday were two marble altars sculpted by John Francis Davis in Cork around 1910.
