The leather gun case owned by Daniel O'Connell is one of the more unusual lots at Marshs sale in Cork next Saturday (December 9). The case, stamped with his name and Derrynane Abbey, is estimated at €1,000-€1,500. There is a similar estimate on a rare 19th-century watercolour, The Strand at Tivoli, Cork, by John E Bosanquet.
