The Irish Heritage Trust Volunteers at Fota House Arboretum & Gardens, Cork, are harvesting and pruning in the glasshouses and gardens.

  • The Owenabue Garden and Flower Club, Carrigaline, will host its Autumn Decorative Show on Monday, October 23, at 8pm in St. Mary’s NS, Waterpark, Carrigaline. Margaret Ahern, AOIFE, will deliver a floral demonstration titled Autumn Glory. All are welcome, visitors €7.
  • The Lough Flower and Garden Club hosts an event taking place on Tuesday, October 24 where they will welcome Veronica Stewart who will give a talk and demonstration on Irish Lace Making. It takes place at Room 6, SMA Parish Centre, Wilton (opposite CUH)at 7.30pm. Visitors are very welcome. Admission is €10.
  • Cork Alpine Hardy Plant Society will host a lecture by Rochard Hobb of Witton Lane Seeds, Norwich, UK entitled 'Spring Bulbs'. It takes place on October 26 at 8pm in Northridge House, St. Luke’s, Castle Rd, Mahon T12H970 Cork. All welcome. Visitors €10.
  • Bosco’s Garden Tour takes place on Saturday, October 28, at 11am at its permaculture market gardens, homestead and food forests. Bosco’s Garden is located in Goslingstown, Kilkenny. It’s a small market garden and food forest established in 2020. It’s run by husband-and-wife team Shane and Kay Hatton, who have a passion for real food and nature. Tickets cost €12; see eventbrite.ie
  • Cobh Flower and Horticulture Club are holding their Gala Christmas Demonstration by Nora Gallagher entitled “Joy to the World” on Wednesday, November 8 in Cobh GAA Club At 8pm. Tickets are €10 and are available from club members and at the door. Proceeds in aid of National Autism Charity.
  • The Irish Heritage Trust Volunteers at Fota House Arboretum & Gardens, Cork, are harvesting and pruning in the glasshouses and gardens. As the historic house enters its low season, volunteers are working at ‘putting the house to bed’ working on a thorough clean of the rooms and caring for its collections.
