Autumn is traditionally the best time to plant in the garden for several reasons.

The ground temperature is still warm as the frost and snow hasn’t come yet, allowing the new plants a chance to establish before the new growing season next spring.

Watering is less of an issue as the plants don’t need as much during the autumn as they do if planted in midsummer and nature is more likely to help out in that regard over the next few months.
