Capturing the fall

A good garden needs a combination of many different types of plant.

Capturing the fall

A garden full of evergreen plants offers very little in terms of seasonal change and if you have nothing but deciduous plants you will enjoy plenty of seasonal interest but a naked garden in the winter. You need a good, carefully chosen mixture.

Autumn colour is one of the highlights of this time in the garden and considering the temporary display is a result of senescence or old age of the leaves, along with several other factors such as levels of sunlight and soil pH, it makes sense that the beauty of the fall period comes primarily from deciduous plants.
