Douglas Court Shopping Centre will see its building renovated following a positive bid from Cork City Council.
The shopping centre lodged plans in September for a change of use of storage areas on the building’s first floor to a new health and wellness centre, comprising up to seven units.
These units will provide for a range of units including health and wellness uses, as well as various services including fitness, aesthetics and hair and beauty treatments.
The development will also include new rooflights, the reconfiguration of internal walls on the first floor for the seven new units, as well as all ancillary development works, including signage, plant and storage areas.
Meanwhile, Munster Technological University (MTU) has received the green light to renovate its campus with a new building approved for the third-level college.
MTU lodged plans with Cork City Council in September to build a new, two-storey apprenticeship building at its Bishopstown campus.

The building will feature workshops, classrooms, teaching labs, and offices, along with associated site works adjacent to the existing Block A building within the main MTU campus.
Planning permission was also sought for proposed external alterations to the building elevations of an existing double-height workshop within the existing Block A Building.
