Welcome rise in buyer take-up follows First Homes Scheme threshold increase

Now, more than ever, we’ve seen the importance of the government schemes and the need for buyers to use them 

The increase in the cap for the First Home scheme in Cork county from €425,000 to €450,000 in July has been a very welcome development, say property commentators.

The First Homes Scheme has been a game-changer for the first-time buyer since it was introduced three years ago.  

The Government’s shared equity scheme is really an old idea that was put away and taken out again with a shiny new label (for those that remember the Council home loans of the past), but there’s no doubt that it has made a significant difference, making the unaffordable suddenly affordable.
