Killarney’s ‘best’ B&B is for sale for €1.6m but a buyer may find other uses

A top Kerry B&B, Friar’s Glen in Mangerton,rated number one out of 99 B&Bs in Killarney, is for sale.

The purpose-built, 10-bed ‘country house’, with linked, three-bed owners’ private residence and two staff rooms on six acres. is selling for €1.6m, via agent Michael Coghlan, of Sherry FitzGerald Coghlan.

He says it’s in “exceptional condition, on a unique, mature site within the Killarney National Park, within a walk of Muckross House”. He’s selling the highly rated business for long-time owners John and Mary Fuller. The website (friarsglen.ie) says the B&B is closed for 2024.

Its National Park setting places it just 400m from the Farmyard and Ranger base at Muckross, only five kilometres from Killarney town centre, and he notes “Friar’s Glen has held the number-1 bed-and-breakfast spot on Trip Advisor for Killarney for many years.”

Apart from existing uses, the property mix “offers many other opportunities”, he says, instancing office and administration use; educational or retreat/pastoral use; private medical treatment centre, as well as hostel/adventure activities centre.
