Bargain price for a four-bed home in Rathcormac

For a guide price of €235,000, No 180 Shanowen in Rathcormac offers 1,400 sq of detached, extremely well-maintained space.

Built in 2008, the four-bed house is on the market with Lisney auctioneers, who say it’s been attracting strong first-time buyer interest.

“It’s a super family home which has been beautifully maintained and is within a 30-minute drive from Cork city centre via the M8,” says auctioneer Cian O’Donoghue

Accommodation in the 2008-built property includes a 22 ft long kitchen/dining/ living room which has ivory units with integrated appliances and a breakfast bar in the kitchen and double patio doors in the carpeted living area.

There’s also a front sitting room with a cream fireplace with a stove and walnut laminate flooring as well as a guest wc off the hall. The first floor has a bathroom and four bedrooms, two carpeted and two with laminate flooring. The master bedroom at the front has an en-suite bedroom.

Situated on a corner site in a cul de sac, the property has a driveway at the front and a lawn at the rear. Mr O’Donoghue says there’s space to make the property even larger if a buyer wants to extend. A large mixed development on the Castlelyons Road, Shanowen, is around 1km from Rathcormac village and 25 from the Dunkettle Roundabout.

The most recent sale in Shanowen was of a new house at No 155 which the Property Price Register shows as selling for €211,453 in May this year.

VERDICT: A sizeable, very well-kept property for this price.
