Trading up: Ballinhassig, Cork, €425,000

There’s lots of building and home to be had at Glengarra, an extended bungalow with granny flat, at Rigsdale, Ballinhassig, west of Cork city.

Trading up: Ballinhassig, Cork, €425,000

In fact, not only is there at least 2,500 sq ft inside, it’s on 2.6 acres of land, all within a 15 minute drive from the city, along a back road from Halfway to Kinsale.

Glengarra’s new to market with Johnny O’Flynn of Sherry FitzGerald carrying a €425,000 asking price, and although it appears a bit dated inside, he says it’s in good condition, as well as being bright and spacious.

There’s just over 2,000 sq ft in the main five-bed section (with two en-suite bathrooms) while the self-contained granny flat element adds almost another 500 sq ft.

It’s well set back from the public road, past stone entrance pillars and a long drive, and there’s also a detached garage and store, while the grounds are private, and in two paddocks.

Rooms include a large lounge with garden views, and a view into the kitchen via serving hatch, there’s a study/playroom, family room with fireplace, kitchen with oak units, plus utility.

Gardens sloping south surround the house, with separate rose garden.

VERDICT: Good scope for modernising, there’s already plenty of internal accommodation in Glengarra and the amount of land that it comes with is a bonus.
