Site in Clonakilty’s chic golden beach circle

THIS site at Inchydoney island in west Cork, with a mobile home on it, might have escaped the plans for a €200 holiday/second home tax thanks to Government capitulation to lobbying, but whoever takes it on next can expect to factor that coming tax back into their calculations.

The mobile is going to be replaced by an immobile dwelling.

Fact is, it probably won’t make a blind bit of difference to any decision to buy, it will be a virtual drop in the ocean for this ocean-facing Atlantic site. A new market arrival is this triangular site overlooking one of west Cork’s most popular beaches, holder of a Blue Flag, but currently battling a green sheen from slicks of washed up sea algae.

The site, currently with a mobile home on it, has full planing for a replacement four-bedroomed 1,240 sq ft bungalow. Setting is right at the corner where the road serving Inchydoney’s beaches splits into a one-way circuit, so it is very much in this Clonakilty area’s chic golden beach circle.

Selling agent is Ray O’Neill of Sherry FitzGerald O’Neill, who notes that it is a ready-to-go site for new owners to build a dream second or full-time home on. He seeks offers around €250,000 for the spot with south and westerly views, over towards Dunmore House hotel.

Earlier this year, Mr O’Neill put a nearly Inchydoney property/site up for sale, seeking €495,000 for the 1,000 sq ft house Clohane that attracted heavy viewings, but was taken off the market for private reasons, but would have been bid to and sold €500k, according to Mr O’Neill because of its superior setting.
