The house, occupied by the same family from day one, was bought for c£72,000, its owners recall. (For comparison, a three-bed semi at the time could have been bought for £20,000 to £25,000.)

Now, a quarter of a century later, it hits the market with a €675,000-plus price tag showing nearly a seven-fold increase.
