Minister’s poor show

I congratulate your columnist Rónán Mullen for highlighting the pathetic performance of junior minister Frank Fahey before the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women last month.

To fail so abysmally to defend our constitutional opposition to abortion showed his lack of even a minimal level of political courage. Given that FF have consistently refused to introduce abortion legislation, one of their ministers might be expected to put up a better show in defence of the unborn.

Mr Fahey’s failure to do this, and his commendation of those who seek to destroy this protection, can only be seen as a lack of guts on his part.
