Anyone who paid attention to how opinions were formed or changed during the course of the election would have seen the very worst of social media.

There was so much uncontrolled aggression, so many lies and, unfortunately, wilful ignorance that the issue cannot be ignored or just swept under the carpet and labelled as inevitable.
