National shame as homelessness crisis escalates
Anyone living in or visiting Dublin will have become depressingly familiar with the sight of hundreds of people lying at night in sleeping bags along the capital’s main streets.
But any notion that homelessness is confined to large urban areas has now been dispelled by the latest government figures revealed yesterday which show that smaller cities like Cork and parts of Kerry have seen an increase of 50% in homelessness over the past 12 months.
