Crowded field of candidates: Kamala Harris in White House race

Though we are still at the very early stages of the race the field is, on one side of the draw at least getting crowded — especially as the champion seems likely, though is not absolutely certain, to have a free run on the far side of the track.
California’s Senator Kamala Harris became the latest in an ever-lengthening card of Democrats to throw her hat into the ring for next year’s American presidential race. She is the first black woman to announce a White House run. Senators Kirsten Gillibrand of Elizabeth Warren are formally considering a bid for the Democratic nomination. Julian Castro, an Obama veteran, Tulsi Gabbard, from Hawaii, and John Delaney, of Maryland, have also offered themselves. They may be joined by Obama’s vice-president Joe Biden and Beto O’Rourke, the charismatic Texan.
