This weekend sees two changes, one of which the clocks going back one hour will be easier to fall in with than the other: an automatic three-month driving ban for motorists caught with a blood alcohol level reading between 50 and 80 milligrams.

As from today, it replaces what the transport minister calls the mild slap on the wrist of three penalty points and a €200 fine.
