When American TV stations interrupted coverage of the 1994 NBA finals to show a Los Angeles police posse chase the white SUV being used by OJ Simpson to try to avoid arrest over a double knife murder, 95m people watched the drama unfold.
Simpson was subsequently found not guilty of murdering his former wife Nicole Brown, and her friend, Ron Goldman, but the case polarised America. Most African-Americans insisted “The Juice” was innocent.
