Schools veto mobile phones: Ban would put children first

In an irony that must tell us something significant about ourselves a device that should have helped protect children — a mobile phone — has become a conduit for bullying, distraction, unwelcome negative opinions and, occasionally, sexual predation.

What should have been a shield has become a weapon.
