Sex offender register - Republic should follow North’s lead

THE North’s launch of a register of sex offenders sets a headline for the Republic on how to properly protect children against predatory paedophiles.

Besides making political noises, the Government has been tardy in compiling a similar register of known sex offenders here.

Effectively, the new database will provide live information on the whereabouts of the 600 offenders, including four women, registered in the North.
