Can we believe this Government?

EDUCATION MINISTER Noel Dempsey did his utmost to assuage public anger over broken political promises relating to the school building programme when he appeared before the Oireachtas Education Committee yesterday.

But the question on everyone’s lips is whether anyone now believes this Government.

It was in the second-half of 2002, that Mr Dempsey realised there was no money in the kitty for projects approved in the first half of the year. As the economic scenario deteriorated, pledges could no longer be honoured.
