While the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is understandably unwilling to release any material that will compromise its sources or undermine its own investigations, unauthorised material already in the Republicans’ possession does not fit into that category.

Examples should be given to allay concerns about whether the material collected by those allegedly spying was a threat to the democratic institutions of the State.

The Unionists who put their trust and staked their political careers on backing the Good Friday Agreement have a right to feel aggrieved, if Sinn Féin was associated with such conduct.
