MRSA deaths - How can patients feel safe?

ALLEGATIONS that MRSA, the deadly superbug which thrives in unclean environments, claimed the lives of seven people in the past 10 days will heighten public fears over conditions in the health service.

This alarming revelation by a support group representing 600 families affected by the killer bacteria, comes hot on the heels of shock findings that 91% of the country’s hospitals fell short of acceptable norms of hygiene while 48% were “poor”.

The unconfirmed death toll will send alarm bells ringing especially since cleanliness has ceased to be the watchword of good health in many hospitals.
