AIB scandals - Buck must stop with bank chiefs

Despite the fact that senior executives have been guilty of criminal offences in breaching the tax laws, AIB management indifferently insist there is not the remotest reason why any of them should resign.

Although the institution has been convulsed by a series of confidence-shaking delinquent transactions, they obviously do not subscribe to the principle of the buck stopping at the top.

The fact is that the elite of AIB preside over an institution which is infected with a management malaise, which would be terminal in a smaller company subjected to greater scrutiny.
