Cabinet reshuffle - Ahern must do what’s best for State

ONE of the consequences of a revamped Cabinet on Wednesday will be essentially to launch the Government, but especially Fianna Fáil, on a strategy to regain the not inconsiderable political ground it lost in the local and European elections.

While it will seal the fate of those wanting to hold onto ministerial status, and those aspiring to it, the country needs more than just a game of political musical chairs around the seat of government.

It needs decisive and resolute governance, which is cognisant not just of the health of the economy, but also of the welfare of people. The latter has been notably absent in the present administration.
