It is practically meaningless to measure any drop in the inflation rate against summer sales, which cause only a very limited number of items used in the average household to drop in price.

Last month, the inflation rate in this country fractionally dropped to 4.2% because of the sales and that decrease was reflected mostly in the clothing and footwear sectors.

In reality, our annual inflation rate is two-and-a-half-times greater than that of the euro zone average, something that is graphically illustrated in the exaggerated cost of living here.
