People pay for greed of politicians

Changes in relation to benefits in kind were foreshadowed in last December’s budget, but the changes to be introduced were not specified.

However, last week, the Revenue Commissioners published a list of items that will be subject to income tax from the beginning of next year.

These will include mobile telephones, laptop computers, health insurance, childcare facilities, and luncheon vouchers given to employees. Not only that, but those benefits in kind will also be included in calculating PRSI payments and the 2% health levy.
