The PAC was debating a subject which is a source of major annoyance to most Irish citizens, which is that the State bears three-quarters of the cost of securely transporting cash for the convenience of the banks.

Joint garda-army patrols, sometimes supported by air surveillance, provide protection for cash patrols which exceed €380,921.
