The European Union has reached a defining moment in its short history. 

As Russia’s war against Ukraine reaches a pivotal moment, and the newly elected US president is threatening to pull the plug on Nato while bullying Ukraine into surrender, the only political question in Europe right now is the following: should EU members invest many billions of euro on military infrastructure and equipment?
